8/4 Hickory Lumber – 5-Pack | Kiln-Dried Hardwood | S2S
Hickory is one of North America's hardest and toughest domestic hardwood, and 8/4 hickory is an absolute workhorse. Its creamy white sapwood paired with rich tan to brown heartwood creates a bold, high-contrast appearance that brings energy and character to any build. With a Janka hardness rating of 1,820 lbf, Hickory outperforms virtually every other domestic species in strength and shock resistance — the same properties that made it the wood of choice for axe handles, wagon wheels, and ladder rungs for centuries.
This 8/4 hickory stock is surfaced 2 sides (S2S) to 1-7/8" and machines well with sharp tooling and slower feed rates. Keep blades fresh and take controlled passes. Hickory rewards patience with a finish that is as tough as it looks.
