White Wenge — botanically known as Lati — is one of the most under-the-radar exotic hardwoods available, and one of the most rewarding to discover. Where traditional Wenge is celebrated for its dark, dramatic tones, White Wenge offers the same impressive grain character in a much brighter, more versatile palette. The light golden-brown to pale cream tones open up a completely different range of design possibilities. With a Janka hardness rating of ~1,420 lbf, it delivers genuine exotic hardwood performance at a significantly more accessible price point than many comparable species.
This 4/4 stock is surfaced 2 sides (S2S) and responds well to sharp carbide-tipped blades and hand tools. It machines cleanly, finishes smoothly, and glues reliably — pre-drilling is recommended for clean joinery given its density. The result is a refined, distinctive surface that brings understated elegance to any finished piece.
