Cutting Board Building Guides
Choose your wood, design patterns & finish your board properly
Step-by-step beginner guide to building a hardwood cutting board from lumber packs or cutting board strips.
Understand the differences between end grain and edge grain boards and which design works best for your build.
We started as a small retail and furniture studio in Hamilton — designing and building pieces by hand. To build well, we needed hardwood we could count on. When we couldn’t find the consistency we wanted, we began sourcing and selecting it ourselves.
Out of the workshop came the lumber side — naturally.
We still run a full furniture shop today, and we still hand-select every board the same way we select our own stock. Whether you’re a professional or just getting started, we believe your materials should make you feel excited to build — not overwhelmed.
