— Every Question Answered

Before You Order.

Do I need special tools to finish these blanks?
+
No workshop required. All you need is sandpaper (220 grit), food-safe mineral oil, and board butter. The blanks arrive pre-glued and drum sanded to 120 grit, so you're already most of the way there. Most people finish a board in about 30 minutes of active work, plus overnight drying time.
What's the best finish for cutting boards?
+
Mineral oil followed by board butter. Here's our process: Start with a clean, dry board, give it a light sand with 180 and then 220 grit — this opens the grain and helps the oil absorb evenly. Apply your first coat generously with a cloth or paper towel, working with the grain and covering every surface including the edges and bottom. Let it soak overnight, then wipe off the excess. You'll know it's saturated when the wood stops absorbing quickly and looks consistently rich rather than patchy. Then apply board butter to both sides. This gives you a food-safe, long-lasting finish that brings out the grain beautifully.
Which species should I choose?
+
All three work great for cutting boards — your choice comes down to aesthetics. Ambrosia Maple (most popular) has dramatic grey-blue streaking and no two blanks look the same. Black Walnut (premium choice) offers rich chocolate tones that deepen with age — the classic luxury option. Maple (clean and classic) is pale cream with minimal grain — perfect for modern, minimalist builds. Can't decide? Ambrosia Maple gives you the most visual drama per dollar.
How long does shipping take?
+
Orders ship within 3 business days via ground freight. Delivery takes 3-7 business days depending on your location. All orders include free shipping across North America. You'll receive tracking info as soon as your order ships.
What's your satisfaction guarantee?
+
100% satisfaction, no questions asked. Don't love the wood? We'll replace it or refund it — whichever makes sense for your situation. We've served 7,300+ woodworkers and maintain a 4.8★ average rating. No stress, no risk, no fine print.
How do I maintain a cutting board?
+
Hand wash only with warm soapy water, then dry immediately — never put wood boards in the dishwasher or let them soak. Reapply mineral oil every few weeks (or whenever the board looks dry) to keep the wood hydrated and protected. A quick wipe with board butter once a month keeps the surface sealed. Proper care means your board will last decades, not years.
What sizes are available?
+
We offer two sizes: 1½" thick (17.5×11.5") — our most popular option, perfect for standard cutting boards and charcuterie boards. ¾" thick (10×5.5") — ideal for smaller boards, serving trays, or detail work. All blanks are sold in 5-packs and include free North America shipping.
